Description

Nordic custom-manufactures overarm spacers for slitting and processing lines. Used primarily for spacing separator disks on arbors, our custom made overarm and tension stand spacers are designed for the demands of both harsh thick gauge applications and surface critical thin gauge applications. Because of the nature of the post-slitting rewind application, spacers are meant to be sacrificial so that your slit materials are not damaged. Our materials have been field tested for 30 years and have proven to be superior. What sets our overarm spacers apart is that all the surfaces are machined so you get accurate setups.

We can also manufacture grooves in the OD of wider spacers for use in installing metal banding during coil packaging.

Types

We manufacture spacers from 2 different materials

Phenolic

  • A composite, fiber reinforced material
  • Tan in color
  • Hard and long wearing
  • Resistant to heat
  • Resistant to pick up of chips and slivers

Nylon

  • A homogeneous plastic material
  • Available in various colors
  • Softer and less likely to mar or scratch processed material
  • Not to be used in applications where separator disks get warm.

Usage

  • Overarms
  • Tensions Stands
  • Recoiler stands
  • Underarms
  • Entry Pit and Exit Pit Rollers

We also manufacture non-metal separator disks from phenolic and nylon for special purpose applications. Available with and without a taper.

Ordering Information

Information Required for Quotes and Orders

1. Outside Diameter

For new sets, this should match the diameter of where your taper starts on your separator disks. For fill in order to be used with existing sets, please provide the current OD of the existing spacers so they will match.

2. Inside Diameter

Should match the OD size of your arbor. We will automagically add a clearance to fit on your shaft. Be careful of adding a clearance on your own. Clearances required for this product are going to be different than other items in your plant due to the nature of the material and the application.

3. Material Type, Phenolic or Nylon

Contact us for advice on this selection.

4. Quantities of each thickness

5. Banding Groove dimensions, width and depth

Please provide the width and thickness of the banding. We will add clearances.

Standard Tolerances

OD: +0.010/-0.010”
ID: +0.005/+0.012”
Thickness: +0.003/-0.003”

Common Questions

Why do you call it phenolic?

Why do you call it nylon?

Do you offer metric size spacers?

I need something besides 1/16”, 1/8”, 1/4”, etc.  Can you make them?
